Central Wyoming Hospice & Transitions
When: May 10th, 2008 10:00 AM
Where:
Admission: Free Admission - RSVP Required
Mother's Day is known worldwide as a day of celebration, recognition and family. However, for many, it can be a day of sadness, as mothers and daughters remember lost loved ones.
On Saturday, May 10 at 10 a.m., Central Wyoming Hospice and Transitions will hold the "White Carnation Brunch: Honoring Motherhood." This event is a celebration of motherhood, and is open to anyone for whom Mother's Day is a difficult time.
Traditionally, the carnation has been the emblem of Mother's Day, because the qualities of the flower represent the qualities of a mother: its lasting qualities stand for faithfulness; its fragrance stands for love; its wide field of growth represents charity, and its form exemplifies beauty.
White carnations are associated with the sad feeling of a mother being absent due to death or anything that separates a mother from her child.
Anyone interested in attending the White Carnation Brunch must RSVP prior to the event. Seating is limited.

Annual March for Babies Walk
March of Dimes

Where: City Park
WalkAmerica, the March of Dimes largest fundraising event, which brought in $117 million nationwide last year, has been renamed March for Babies. The new name makes a clear connection to what the March of Dimes is all about the health of babies.
The name of our event has changed, but our mission stays the same working towards the day when every baby is born healthy, said Kim Summerall, Wyoming State Director. We hope the new name will bring more people on board to help make that day a reality.
In Casper, March for Babies will take place on May 17, 2008, at 9:00am at City Park. Central Wyoming residents can sign up today to help fund lifesaving research and educational programs aimed at helping moms have healthy babies. Last year, over 200 residents participated, raising over $100,000.00. In Wyoming funds raised by March for Babies supports the NICU Family Support® Project, the Preconception and Prenatal Care project, the Smoking Cessation program and the Cub House.

The public is invited to join the effort to clean up the trail system and ready it for the active summer season. Volunteers are asked to meet in the parking lot of the Tate Pumphouse at the Casper Whitewater Park. Clean-up supplies will be distributed and groups will then fan out along the 10 mile plus pathway as well as the Casper Rail Trail to pick up trash and debris.
The Parkway Board is also pleased to be partnering with the City of Casper Urban Forestry section to plant 100 bare rooted trees and 150 potted trees at this year's clean-up. The mission of the City of Casper Urban Foresty Section is to promote proper stewardship for Casper's urban forest and natural resources, to ensure their future as a resource to the community, and provide a safe habitat for its citizens. Donna Cuin, Parkway Board Member, and Natrona County Horticulturist says the planting process will be accessible to most volunteers as holes do not need to be very big, one or two shovel widths and just deep enough for all the roots. If you are interested in helping clean-up and enhance our community trail please join us! Volunteers are asked to dress for work and bring a shovel if you want to plant trees.
